In the first room we see artwork 1.1, "Poke Press Squeeze Clasp", made by the Dutch artist Afra Eisma. Eisma made this while being in isolation during the covid pandemic. Responding to an increasing sense of unease, isolation, insecurity and fear of life regarding anything perceived as foreign within our familial environment, Eisma aims to ease the pain by cultivating mutual understanding and inducing a shared experience through art. So take of your shoes, hug the figures, talk with each other and explain why you need to escape reality. Use the artwork as a form of connecting with each other. Share your experiences, insecurities, emotions and ideas before entering the rest of the exhibition.
